Serbia: Common transit procedure under EU customs since the 1st of Feb. 2016

Customs: Extension of the Convention on a common transit procedure and the Convention on the simplification of formalities in trade of goods. By their decisions No 2/2015 and No 3/2015 the EU-EFTA Joint Committees on a common transit procedure and on the simplification of formalities in trade of goods invited Serbia to accede to the Convention of 20 May 1987 on a common transit procedure and to the Convention of 20 May 1987 on the simplification of formalities in trade of goods. Serbia has deposited its instrument of accession on 9 December 2015 and therefore joins the conventions on 1 February 2016. This means that common transit operations with Serbia and the current contracting parties (the EU, the EFTA countries, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey) can begin from this date with Serbia. This extension will bring major simplifications for economic operators engaged in trade between the contracting parties.
